Notification appliances

Notification appliances are the output devices in a commercial fire alarm system. When the control panel receives an alarm signal, these devices provide audible and visual notification to building occupants. Common types include horn strobes, strobes, speaker strobes, horns, and speakers.

Horn strobes combine audible and visual signaling in a single unit and are widely used in general occupancies. Strobes provide visual notification only and are typically installed in areas where audible devices are not required or where hearing-impaired notification is needed. Speakers and speaker strobes are used in voice evacuation systems to broadcast prerecorded or live voice messages during an emergency.

Notification appliances must be compatible with the fire alarm control panel and system design. Voltage ratings, candela settings, mounting style, and synchronization requirements must match the existing system. Many manufacturers use proprietary synchronization protocols, so devices are often series-specific and not interchangeable across brands.

Proper selection and installation should follow applicable code requirements and project specifications. Listings reflect the exact model being sold.
